Summary:

Provide support and assistance for network systems, end-users, and other related components across all DTSEM facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implementation and support of the following products, including but not limited to Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP Professional, Microsoft Office XP, Windows NT Workstation, Linux Server, Snap Appliance Snap Server 4500, Cisco Ethernet Switch OS, Cisco Router OS, Cisco PIX Firewall OS, HP Multiple Version LAN Printers, Copiers and MFC, and Ethernet Cat5 and Fiber Cable Plant, Oracle, PL/SQL.
  • Monitoring and resolving hardware, software, and network problems on any information technology hardware or software within DTSEM’s infrastructure.
  • Performing standard hardware/software/network maintenance, including but not limited to, replacement of boards, power supplies, PC fans, and cable running for the network.
  • Providing operations assistance and support for hardware,
  • Independently researching and resolving various problems with the operating systems, computer hardware, network, and printers.
  • Installing and configuring both hardware and software products and resolve any compatibility issues that should arise, including setting up PCs for user training.
  • Providing support for uniquely configured PC tablets/laptops running OSHRA software through operating system and application updates, hardware troubleshooting, imaging, and inventory control.
  • Maintaining contacts within the OSHA Directorate of Information Technology to assure that the Local Area LAN’s are properly configured and maintained. Installation of software and hardware based on quarterly updates for computers and servers in the DTSEM computer systems.
  • Maintenance of user accounts for security access to specific operating, applications and database systems according to the NIST 800-53 guidelines.
  • Creating tape backups from DTSEM computer systems disk drives according to the “Backup and Off-site Storage on Media SOPs”.
  • Repair of hardware and wiring associated with the computer systems.
  • Managing corporate virus protection and frequent scanning of workstation software to ensure highest level of security.
  • Review of audit logs to ensure potential network database problems are identified, tracked, understood and resolved to prevent unplanned interruptions of service.
  • Providing user training for hardware/software products, as needed
  • Provide LAN support, applying Microsoft networking essentials and implementing TCP/IP on Windows and Linux Servers.
  • Providing user assistance for technical problems with the PCs or LAN
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining file, fax, and print services and independently research and resolve various problems with the operating systems, computer hardware, network, and printers.
  • Interfacing of the hardware and/or software vendors with regard to warranties and service contracts in order to resolve problems.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business/operational needs.


Supervision:

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience is preferred. Substitution of additional relevant education and/or experience for stated qualifications may be considered.

Computer Skills:

Strong technical knowledge of Windows XP, MS Office, and Adobe. Prefer technical knowledge in network hardware, (Dell, Cisco, HP Printers, Xerox, Apple), protocols and standards and knowledge of telecommunications and networks (LAN and WAN).
